Each year, Little Deer Studio donates 10% of all profits to support an individual or organisation doing amazing work to help make the world a better place.
In 2016 / 2017 I am supporting Ausnep.
Ausnep is a wonderful Australian charity that I have a personal connection with, as I had the privilege and the pleasure of working with its founder, Loopy Kiddle, in my previous life as a doctor.
Loopy is an anaesthetic nurse, and when she is not helping to save lives in the operating theatre, she works tirelessly in her own time, raising funds and organising teams of surgeons, dentists, anaesthetists and nursing staff, to travel to disadvantaged and remote communities in Nepal and provide free surgical and dental treatment to folks who would otherwise not have access to health care.
In just one 5-day surgical camp, they can make a difference to hundreds of lives.
Ausnep also provides help in other ways, including delivering food and emergency supplies to earthquake affected communities, revegetating damaged areas by planting thousands of trees, providing medical supplies to remote health posts and delivery kits for women in remote villages, donating toothpaste and toothbrushes to children in orphanages and so much more.
98% of all money raised by Ausnep goes directly to helping the people of Nepal, and they really do some amazing work.
As you know, I use quite a lot of beautiful Nepalese handmade papers in my work, so it seems fitting that I can now give something more back to the community that has helped me to create my products – a country that has played its part in helping me to live the life I love.
